Located at the top of a steep hill in Starkholmes, near Matlock, The Gables Bed and Breakfast offers five bedrooms, all individually decorated with their own en-suite bathrooms

We are only a short walk from Matlock and Matlock Bath, and within easy reach of many pubs and restaurants but away from the hustle and bustle of the high street

​

Breakfast is served in our dining area where we also have a selection of magazines and tourist information leaflets so you can plan your stay. We offer advice and recommendations of what to do and where to eat in the local area if requested

Constructed in 1823, The Gables was originally a Methodist chapel and served this purpose for nearly 90 years.

 

Over the years, the property has seen numerous renovations to reach its current state.

 

We relocated to The Gables in 2016 and began the transformation into a Bed & Breakfast.

We try to offer a little something different at The Gables, so complimentary tea or coffee and cake is offered on arrival. Guests can enjoy this on the patio if the sun is shining, in the guest lounge or in the comfort of their own room​

 

For breakfast we offer both Full English and Continental, using as many locally sourced produce as possible. The fresh fruit and veg all comes from Matlock market and the sausages and bacon from local butcher, Robin Maycock​

Lovely B&B. The owners have thought of everything! Rooms are individually decorated. The whole place is warm and cosy, spotlessly clean. Up a very steep hill, but lovely views across the valley. Not too long a walk into Matlock and Matlock Bath, but remember coming back is all up hill! Breakfast was lovely, with everything being sourced locally. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners.
