"A lovely place to stay, Sue was super-friendly and helpful, and John cooks the most amazing full english breakfast (with yummy vegetarian sausages!) Our room was great, very comfy bed and we would definitely stay here again. There is a very steep hill up to the property but we didn't mind the exercise, worth it for the views!"

"We stayed in the Derwent Suite which has fantastic views overlooking the Heights of Abraham. It has a lovely big bathroom with roll top bath and walk in shower. Comfy bed & very nice breakfast. Owners very nice and knowledgeable about the area. Catered well for my dairy allergy. Nice pub in walking distance. Highly recommend the Gables for a weekend break in the Peak District."

ABOUT US

Built in 1823, The Gables is a former Methodist chapel and was for approximately 90 years. The property has undergone many renovations over the years to bring it to the condition it is in today

We moved to The Gables in 2016 and started the job of turning it into a Bed & Breakfast. We offer 5 individually designed rooms with modern facilities

Set in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside, we are located at the top of Riber Road, a steep and winding lane with stunning views overlooking Matlock Bath, Matlock and far reaching views towards Bakewell and beyond

We try to offer a little something different at The Gables, so complimentary tea or coffee and cake is offered on arrival. Guests can enjoy this on the patio if the sun is shining, in the guest lounge or in the comfort of their own room

For breakfast we offer both Full English and Continental, using as many locally sourced produce as possible. The fresh fruit and veg all comes from Matlock market and the sausages and bacon from a local butcher, Robin Maycock

We look forward to welcoming you to The Gables Bed & Breakfast
